The Action Democratic Party (ADP) has expressed its readiness to warmly embrace Governor Godwin Obaseki if he chooses to join their ranks. This announcement came from Adelaja Adeoye, the National Publicity Secretary of the ADP, during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos. The ADP's open-door policy ensures that they would gladly admit Obaseki and show him due respect as a sitting governor.
The ADP emphasizes that while they would offer Obaseki certain waivers and privileges due to his current position, he must also adhere to the party's rules and principles. Adeoye reiterated that joining the ADP would require Obaseki to participate in the party's governorship primaries like any other aspirant.
As of now, the ADP has not yet conducted its governorship primaries, presenting an opportunity for Obaseki to potentially secure the party's ticket. The ADP plans to use the indirect mode of primaries for its gubernatorial contest.
Adeoye also commented on Obaseki's disqualification by the All Progressives Congress (APC), labeling it as a power play within the ruling party. He criticized the APC for sidelining Obaseki, noting the irony that the same party once highly regarded him.
