Ijeฬbu-Ode & Ibadan lo ri moฬฃ, as I pen this small message, my heart is full of joy and respect for one of our own acquiring a great responsibility. I am Prince Adelaja Adeoye, and today I celebrate Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, the newly nominated 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland. แบธ ku oriire, Kabiyesi!
My Thoughts as a Prince Who Knows Royalty and Heritage
Growing up in Ijebuland, hearing stories of kingship, rulership and tradition has always grounded me. I understand well the weight of these crowns, the rites, the prayers, the patience and the sacrifices. So today when I see Otun-Olubadan Ladoja ascend to the highest stool of Ibadanland, I see not just a king, but a custodian of culture, history, dignity and hope.
My Message to Oba Ladoja & to Ibadanland
Kabiyesi, I wish you long life, strong health, wisdom and courage as you accept this enormous task. Ibadan is waiting for your hand to heal, to unify, to inspire. May the ancestors guide your steps. May the people give you the peace and loyalty needed to rule well.
To the people of Ibadanland, let us rally around Oba Ladoja. Tradition no dey wrong, culture no dey fail. If we support him with respect, our kingship system will not just survive โ it will thrive and be example for all Yoruba towns.
Why This Moment Matters
This isnโt just about one man becoming king. This is about continuity. Is about how our traditions remain alive in changing times. Is about hope โ hope that leadership will be dignified, humble and anchored in service. Ibadan has always been a great city: industrious, proud, resilient. Oba Ladoja now carries that legacy.
