Lagos Governorship Aspirant Laja Adeoye to Speak on Youth Leadership at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria

Lagos Governorship Aspirant Laja Adeoye to Speak on Youth Leadership at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria

Laja Adeoye, a leading Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aspirant for the 2027 Lagos State governorship election, will be speaking as a Keynote Speaker at the African Union Students’ Club (AUSC), Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, forthcoming International Virtual Conference.

According to the convener, Mallam Ahmad Shuaibu Isa, the conference, themed “Global Peace and African Development in a Multipolar World Order”, is scheduled for Saturday, 18 April 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. WAT. It will bring together students, scholars, policymakers, and international participants to discuss Africa’s evolving role in an increasingly complex global landscape.

Adeoye is slated to speak on the topic: “Youth Leadership, Governance, and Africa’s Pathway to Sustainable Development”.

Senator Shehu Sani will deliver the first keynote address. In his expected remarks, Prince Adeoye will align his presentation with his long-standing commitment to youth development, drawing direct parallels to the policy priorities he has outlined for Lagos State. As a successful entrepreneur and President of the Laja Adeoye Foundation (LAF), Adeoye has consistently championed youth empowerment through education, skills acquisition, entrepreneurship support, and civic engagement. His foundation promotes active political participation, democratic values, and leadership training among young Nigerians. The PDP aspirant is expected to expand on how empowered youth can drive sustainable development across Africa. Key areas he plans to address include:

- Building strong institutions that prioritise youth inclusion in governance and decision-making.

- Investing in quality education, vocational training, and digital skills to prepare young Africans for the opportunities and challenges of a multipolar world.

- Fostering entrepreneurship and job creation to reduce unemployment and harness the demographic dividend of Africa’s youthful population.

- Promoting good governance, transparency, and accountability as foundational pillars for peace and development.

- Leveraging private-sector innovation and people-centred policies to transform urban centres like Lagos into models of inclusive prosperity that can inspire broader African progress.

“Youth are not just the leaders of tomorrow; they must be active architects of today’s development agenda,” Adeoye has often emphasised in his public engagements. His vision for Lagos includes a strong focus on education, healthcare, security, and economic opportunities, elements he believes are critical for unlocking Africa’s potential on the global stage.

This speaking engagement underscores Adeoye’s growing profile as a thought leader on governance and youth issues, even as he intensifies grassroots consultations and consolidates support within the Lagos PDP and other political spaces including youth and student organizations, ahead of the 2027 elections.

Political observers note that his participation in a prestigious student-led platform at Nigeria’s largest university highlights the importance he places on engaging the next generation of African leaders.

The African Union Students’ Club, ABU Zaria, described Adeoye’s acceptance as a significant boost to the conference, citing his “distinguished leadership, experience, and commitment to youth development and governance.”Further details, including the virtual access link, will be shared with registered participants.

The event promises robust discussions on peace, multipolarity, and Africa’s development trajectory, with Laja Adeoye’s keynote expected to provide practical, youth-focused insights grounded in real-world governance experience and policy vision.
