This move is not a rejection of the PDP family, but a pragmatic step to avoid being trapped in the ongoing internal leadership challenges and court cases that have slowed things down. Laja and his team remain in very warm and collaborative relations with the PDP structure across Lagos. The focus is simple, deliver results for the people without unnecessary distractions.
His campaign office put it clearly:
“We have adopted the APM platform to stay focused. There is too much work ahead for Lagos in 2027. We cannot allow internal party tussles to stop us from providing the quality leadership Lagosians truly deserve. We are confident that our people are hungry for fresh leadership and a new direction away from the APC’s long years of misgovernance.”This move perfectly aligns with the strategic leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde, the powerhouse of opposition politics in the South-West. Many strong candidates in Oyo State have taken the same smart step, and the collaboration is yielding positive results.
Importantly, Laja Adeoye had already emerged as the consensus Governorship candidate of the Lagos PDP. That mandate has now been transferred smoothly to the APM, with the full, enthusiastic backing of the PDP family.
Lagos PDP Chairman, Dr. Amos Fawole, confirmed the strong working relationship, the PDP has entered a strategic alliance with the APM. All candidates, Governorship, Senatorial, House of Representatives, and State Assembly, will contest under the APM banner. This ensures they are not shut out by INEC timelines while the PDP continues to resolve its internal matters. The PDP structure remains solidly united behind Laja Adeoye, other candidates and the shared goal of rescuing Lagos.
APC’s Heavy Burden on Lagosians
While the opposition gets its house in order, the ruling APC continues to pile pressure on everyday Lagosians. Public debt has skyrocketed to dangerous levels, mortgaging the future of our children. Roads and infrastructure are in a sorry state, potholes, flooding, and gridlock have become permanent features. Housing remains a massive crisis, with millions of residents priced out of decent shelter in a city that should be a beacon of prosperity.
Power is still unreliable, the cost of living is crushing, and basic services feel like luxuries. After nearly 26 years in power, the APC’s excuses have worn thin. Lagosians deserve far better.

The party's fortune is swelling everyday, with Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, joined as a member of the APM with many other heavy weight politicians warming up to join the party ahead of the 2027 election. As at today, APM is one of the few stable parties with no crisis or legal tussle which gives the candidates the focus needed to prepare for the forthcoming general elections.
